Williamnagar: A confident Congress in Williamnagar taunted the BJP-NPP as well as the TMC for calling them husband and wife with their children.
The statement was made at a meeting held near the residence of INC candidate and former MLA Deborah C Marak in Warima in the presence of AICC General Secretary Mukul Wasnik.
Wasnik, a Rajya Sabha MP is one of the Congress party’s star campaigners in the state along with MP Benny Behnan, Anil Thomas AICC – Meghalaya Coordinator, Padi Richo, AICC Observer as well as Congress Gambegre’s candidate Saleng Sangma was also present. .
Among the first speakers of the night, Saleng tore up the NPP’s manifesto that promised 5 lakh jobs to the people of the state if it returns to power.
“They are claiming that they will provide 5 lakh jobs but thousands of jobs have gone vacant during their tenure. They are now promising jobs to the voters. They have done away with muster roll workers and employment Promising,” Saleng said.
Saleng added that the NPP-led government had returned over Rs 4,000 crore to the Center due to non-completion of projects while taking Rs 14,000 crore as loans.
“Who’s going to pay for it but us? We’re going to raise prices because they’re going to use the money to pay people through their FOCUS scheme. Believe me, they’re going to get that money from us by raising our taxes.” We will have to pay through our existing bills which will increase,” he asserted.
Criticizing the TMC, Saleng mocked both the party’s WECard and MYE card, asking if anyone had seen TMC ATMs anywhere.
He questioned that if these programs are so successful, then why are there poor people in West Bengal?
Padi Richo asserted that Congress had made both PA Sangma and Mukal Sangma as Chief Ministers but now they are maligning Congress. He asserted that the party will leave everyone behind and continue to grow stronger. He called BJP-NPP as husband and wife.
Anil Thomas later added to Richo’s statement by calling the TMC a child of the BJP-NPP and it doesn’t matter who you vote for, it’s going to the BJP. Is.
Benny Behnan expressed confidence in the fact that Congress is winning in Williamnagar. He also noted that a BJP MP has introduced a bill demanding a Uniform Civil Code, which would have a major impact on the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
BJP is against the sixth schedule. It is against the secular fabric of India and is trying to destroy that fabric,” Behnan charged.
AICC General Secretary Wasnik said the state is beautiful and so are the people, but it is still one of the poorest states in the country.
“In the last 5 years, corruption in the state has gone beyond Himalayan heights. Scams reign in Meghalaya. Meghalaya has had covid, smart meter, Saubhagya, assembly dome, coal and whatnot scams. Now BJP It wants to blame it on the NPP when it was also part of the same government. They are both equally responsible,” said Wasnik.
Criticizing the TMC, Wasnik said that those who joined the TMC went there after spending 20-25 years in the INC.
“When they can’t accept the thought process of Congress even after spending so much time, how can they accept the vision of TMC in just 4 months? They have gone there only for the lust for power. People. How can you believe them,” he asked, praising Deborah for sticking with the party win or lose.
Later he apprised the gathering about the manifesto and promises of the Congress.
Finally there was Deborah who asked for the public’s help in bringing him back as the people’s representative.
