Condemning Manipur video Assam CM says Politics behind it

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has condemned the incident of two Kuki women’s nude parade in Manipur, the video of which went viral recently.

A viral video of the incident shows two Kuki women stripped naked, grabbed by a mob of Meitei men and dragged into a field, where one of them was gang-raped.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has described the incident as ‘horrific’.

Taking to Twitter, the Assam chief minister also shared reports of recent sexual violence against women that have taken place in other states.
“The Manipur incident is horrific and the culprits will face the full wrath of the law. Unfortunately, there is a clear pattern among so-called liberals. The outrage is limited to the Northeast, while they will ignore equally brutal crimes elsewhere,” tweeted Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“A family of four, including a six-month-old infant, was first murdered and burnt alive in Jodhpur on July 19, 2023,” Sarma shared in the first report.
Another report said, “A Dalit minor girl was gang-raped in front of her boyfriend on July 16, 2023 in Jodhpur.

“A BJP activist alleged that TMC workers urinated on him after losing the July 13, 2023 election,” read a third.
“A BJP candidate alleged that she was stripped and paraded naked by TMC workers on July 8, 2023,” the Assam chief minister tweeted the fourth report.
In another tweet, he said, “A minor tribal girl was gang-raped by 8 people on June 7, 2023 in Bihar.

“On October 20, 2022, a tribal woman was gang-raped by 10 people on the road in Chaibasa, Jharkhand,” he added.
