
Complete withdrawal of AFSPA, Assam CM discussion with Amit Shah
New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence on September 4 to discuss the roadmap for complete withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from Assam.
Also, the Assam government will take further steps based on Amit Shah’s suggestions.
Earlier on Independence Day, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) would be completely removed from the state.
Addressing the functions held at Khanapara playground here, Sarma said, “In Assam, AFSPA has already been abolished from many districts. Law and order situation in the state has improved considerably. And soon this law will be completely removed. All of Assam.”
The Chief Minister also asserted that large-scale administrative reforms would be carried out in the state within a month.
Addressing a gathering at Khanapara Veterinary Field, CM Sarma said, “Sub-districts will be created in each constituency. All important departments will be in these sub-districts.
