CM Sangma said: BJP can't blame Govt as they were part of it

Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and National People’s Party (NPP) national president on Saturday called for equal responsibility and blame sharing among allies of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government. Hitting back at BJP, he said that he is blaming BJP as they In the were very parts of govt for the last five years.
Sangma’s reaction comes after Union Home Minister Amit Shah termed Meghalaya as one of the most corrupt states in the country. He also said that such statements are not new as BJP has been making these statements in political campaigns in West Bengal, Telangana and Delhi.
After attending the swearing-in ceremony of the new governor in the state, Sangma said, “BJP is making these statements for electoral purposes, but as I said, BJP is part of this government and it has What has worked with us?
Asked whether the BJP will examine all allegations of corruption leveled against the government in its manifesto, Sangma welcomed the decision. He also reacted to the charge sheet issued by the Congress against the MDA government. Sangma said that an inquiry into the Saubhagya scheme has been conducted, a report has been submitted and it has been placed in the public domain.
“Similarly the rice scam, which they say is a scam, has been enquired. It is an allegation that we have also kept reports,” Sangma added.
However, when a media person responded to the Chief Minister’s claim that these reports were not made public and no one knew the contents of the report, the Chief Minister disagreed and said that the report was public or at least reported. The summary was released to all.
Mining cannot be stopped suddenly
Sangma also said that Meghalaya cannot simply stop mining when it has been legal for 200 years.

Sangma’s response came amid the Meghalaya High Court’s order to deploy central forces after it found that the state machinery, including the police, was failing to control illegal mining and coal transportation.
“We cannot just say that people will just give up their livelihood. Wherever we had to take action against people or arrest people or register cases, that has been done,” the chief minister said.
