Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday paid homage to Maharaja Nara Singh on his 172nd birth anniversary at Kangla in Imphal.
The Chief Minister of Manipur wrote on his official Twitter handle, “Today paid great tribute to Bahadur Maharaja Nara Singh on his 172nd birth anniversary in Kangla.
“During the First Anglo-Burmese War, shortly after 7 years of devastation, his strong military genius defeated the Burmese army beyond the Ningthi River.”
The Manipur Chief Minister said that the state government would construct a befitting memorial tomb to honor Maharaja Nara Singh’s contribution to the people of Manipur.
“The people of Manipur will always remember Maharaja Nara Singh’s spirit of nationalism and the Government of Manipur will soon construct a befitting memorial tomb to honor his great contribution to the people of Manipur,” CMN said. Biren Singh said in another tweet.
