Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday announced that 2,000 CCTVs will be installed in Guwahati by August 2024.
He made this announcement while inaugurating Shraddhanjali flyover connecting Guwahati Commerce College Sundarpur and Mother Teresa Road towards Geeta Mandir on RG Baruah Road.
The Assam Chief Minister said that CCTVs will be installed at strategic locations across the city to prevent crime and improve public safety.
He also said that CCTV footage would be accessible to the Assam Police in real time, which would help them respond to incidents quickly and effectively.
The Chief Minister added that in the coming days, the state government is going to construct roundabouts at Bhatnath and Machkhowa and a link road to divert traffic from the two points bypassing Bharalumukh.
There will be another flyover at Bharalumaukh connecting MG Road and RK Chowdhary Road.
He also said that the construction of the proposed 6 km flyover from Handique Girls College Point to Bamunimaidan would be started from January next year at a cost of Rs 888 crore.

Shraddhanjali flyover was earlier planned to be 1 km long, its length has been modified to 2.28 km long considering the need and demand of the people.
