CM Conrad Sangma stress for youth development in the state

Shillong: The New Shillong Township Development Agency on Monday handed over land for the permanent campus of National Law University Meghalaya and Meghalaya State Judicial Academy.
This land is situated at Mawpdang, Mawkhanu, Shillong. The handover program was held between Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and Meghalaya High Court Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee, who also serves as Chancellor of the National Law University, Meghalaya.
In his address, CM Sangma said the government is clear in its agenda for the state, emphasizing the transition from an extractive economy to a regenerative economy, largely based on human capital.
He noted the importance of investing in this human capital for the future of the state. He further highlighted that India is a young country, and every youth should play a positive role in the development of the country.
It is important to provide the youth with the necessary platform to become productive citizens. The Chief Minister also discussed the government’s efforts to create infrastructure for higher and professional courses in the state.
The Chief Minister further said that educational and professional institutions should not only act as educational institutions but should cooperate with the government to meet the challenges.
He encouraged the students to continue their studies and contribute to the needs of the government through research, analysis and documentation.
In his speech, Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee expressed the university’s effort to create an environment conducive to learning and discovery rather than relying solely on textbooks.
He hoped for an increase in the enrollment of local students in the university and appealed to everyone to contribute to the development of the institution, stressing that the National Law University Meghalaya has the potential to be prominent in the world.
