Guwahati: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday thanked the people of the state for voting for the ruling National People’s Party (NPP).
“I thank the people of the state for voting for our party. We are very grateful to them. We are definitely short by a few numbers and we will wait for the final result and then decide how. Go,” he said while addressing reporters in Shillong.
Currently NPP is far ahead of other major parties including opposition Congress and Trinamool Congress.
It has emerged as the single largest party in the state.
When asked about an alliance with partners in the previous government – the BJP and the United Democratic Party – Sangma replied, “I could not even meet my people. Let me meet them and then decide.” Let’s see.”
