Manipur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will deal with the issue of suspension of operations (SOO) and use of illegal weapons in Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said on Friday.
Conveying Amit Shah’s message after a 14-member delegation of the state government and legislature from all political parties visited Guwahati on Friday, Biren told mediapersons that the Union Home Minister is keeping a close eye on the current scenario in the state.
Biren maintained that saving and protecting the lives and rights of about 35 communities of Manipur is a priority of both the state and central governments.
The central government, led by PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has made every effort to restore normalcy in the state, he said, adding, “Please have faith in the government. Normalcy will be restored soon.”
Giving details of the meeting with Amit Shah, Minister Awangbow Newmai said that the Union Home Minister will come to the state on May 29 and stay for three days.
He said that during three days, the Union Home Minister will listen to the grievances and sentiments of all sections.
During his visit, Amit Shah had assured of permanent peace in the state and assured that the state would not face shortage of essential commodities.
He further said that Amit Shah has appealed to the people not to have any fear and trust in the efforts of the government and join hands to move the state towards peace and development.
According to a source, Union Home Minister Nityananda Rai, who arrived in the state on Thursday, will camp in Manipur till Amit Shah’s departure from the state. He is making efforts to restore normalcy by meeting leaders of various CSOs and stakeholders.
