CM Arunachal says Govt top priority to improve rural economy
Palin: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday said his government’s priority is to improve the state’s rural economy. If the villages develop, the constituency will develop. If the constituency develops, then the district will develop. Then the country will develop along with the state,” Khandu, who was addressing a public meeting here, said.
Assuring the provision of sufficient funds to complete all the projects within the stipulated period, the Chief Minister stressed that the quality of work should not be compromised at any cost.
“I assure you of rapid development but for any development there must be an enabling environment. An enabling environment can only be created with the support of the people,” he said along with the implementing agencies and district administration. Appealing for public support and cooperation, he said.
Highlighting the development work undertaken by his government with the support of the central government, Khandu said that the major bottleneck – road connectivity – has been resolved in most of the Kra-Daadi and Kurung Komey districts. He expressed satisfaction over the progress of the Trans Arunachal Highway connecting the two districts with the rest of the state.
“The difference is being experienced. While earlier it used to take 8 hours to reach Itanagar from Palin, today it is about 4-5 hours.
He blamed the lack of road connectivity and other basic amenities in the villages of the district in the past which led to migration of rural people to places like Zero and Itanagar.
“Things are changing fast. I am happy to know that people settled in the capital have started building houses in their native places and I believe reverse migration is increasing,” he added. That the Government is promoting and managing SHGs through Rural Livelihood Mission.
Khandu further requested the department heads and officers to introduce the state and central government schemes at the planning stage itself so that village development takes place in a holistic manner.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of a state-of-the-art District Secretariat at Kra Daadi and various projects run by the Departments of PWD, RWD and Power, PHE and WS and UD and Housing District Headquarters.
He appreciated the layout plan of the new extension of the district headquarters prepared by the Department of UD and Housing, which will be spread over an area of 1.27 square kilometers and 5 km away from the existing township.
The Chief Minister also handed over a sanction order of Rs.8 crore to Kra-Daadi Deputy Commissioner on September 28, 2022 to mitigate the material damage caused by cloudburst in Yangte, Tali and Pipsorang Circles.
He also gave a check of Rs 2,47,42,800 as loan to 123 Self Help Groups (SHGs) of the district.
Khandu lauded the bank access drive by SBI and Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) for credit support during their mega credit camp organized alongside the general meeting.
Later, the Chief Minister flagged off the ambulance donated by NEPCO for the district hospital.
The Chief Minister and his delegation later in the day traveled from Palin to Chambang in Arunachal, where Khandu laid the foundation stone of an inspection bungalow.
Attending a public meeting here, Khandu made several announcements, including upgrading the circle (set up in 1982) to SDO/ADC administration, a police post and a power subdivision.
Fulfilling one of his earlier assurances, he handed over a copy of the approval order for the establishment of RWD Sub-Division at Chambang to the district administration.
Noting that the road connecting Palin and Chambang is too narrow for safe travel, Khandu assured to make provision in the upcoming state budget for its widening and realignment.
Incidentally, Khandu became the third Chief Minister to arrive in Chambang after former Chief Minister Gigong Apang and the late Dorji Khandu.
Among others, Home Minister Bamang Felix, MLA Balo Raja, Jikke Tako, Chow Zignu Namchoom and Phurpa Tsering and other officials accompanied the Chief Minister on the day.
