Imphal: Thoubenliu Kalengta, a student at Olivia Higher Secondary School, Kanglatongbi in Imphal West, Manipur, who tragically lost her life in a road accident soon after her exams, has secured the highest marks in Liangmai (MIL) in the recently declared Class 12 board exam 2024.
Thoubenliu scored 95 marks in the subject, outperforming her peers. Unfortunately, she met with an accident on April 11 while returning home after participating in a football tournament in Imphal. The football match was organised by Liangmai Baptist Youth Society, Imphal, at Game Village. Other teammates traveling with her also sustained severe injuries and underwent treatment at different hospitals in Imphal.
Born to Thonbuibou Kalengta and Mary Kalengta, Thoubenliu hailed from Lenglong (Rianglong) village under the Tamei sub-division in Tamenglong district.
In a message congratulating all successful students of Class 10 and 12 in the recent CBSE and COHSEM examinations, the Liangmai Naga Students’ Union, Manipur (LNKRM), acknowledged Thoubenliu Kalengta’s remarkable achievement despite her untimely demise. They expressed condolences to her family and friends, highlighting that her memory will serve as inspiration for excellence.
The LNKRM also praised Langmei Higher Secondary School (LHSS) Tamei for achieving a perfect 100% pass rate in the Class 12 Examination conducted by COHSEM. LHSS’s commitment to academic excellence sets a high standard in the region, it said.
Meanwhile, Wiwangliu Pamai, from the Laingmai community, secured the highest marks in two subjects – English Elective and Education. A student of Don Bosco Secondary School, Maram, Pamai hails from Konphung village, Tamei.
P Thoubenliu, a science student of New Era Higher Secondary School, Thoubal, also received congratulations for scoring exceptionally well in all subjects, with a distinction in all six. She is a resident of Rienta village, Tamei.
