
Citing no reasons ECI remove officials in Mizoram,other states
Aizawl: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued instructions to dismiss the Secretary of the General Administrative Department in Mizoram citing unknown reasons.
The secretary, whose identity has not yet been revealed, must resign immediately.
Additionally, the ECI has ordered removal of home secretaries in six states namely Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Apart from this, secretaries of general administrative departments in Mizoram and Himachal Pradesh have also been removed.
Additionally, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has taken steps to sack the Director General of Police (DGP) of West Bengal.
Polling for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Mizoram is scheduled to take place on April 19.
The total electorate in Mizoram is 8,61,277, which includes 4,14,777 males, 4,41,520 females and 4980 service electors.
