China claims some parts of Northeast: Minister GK Reddy

New Delhi: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has said in New Delhi that although China has claimed parts of the North East for itself, the region is India’s “heartbeat” and the government is committed to its development. ۔

Reddy was speaking at the inauguration of the three-day North East Festival at the Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts (IGNCA) in New Delhi on Friday.

The Union Minister also highlighted the ongoing development projects in the North East.

Reddy, who heads the northeastern culture, tourism and development department, spoke while Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi was in Delhi to meet Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.

“The Northeast is an important pillar of India; China claims parts of the Northeast, but whatever they say. The Northeast is our heartbeat. On behalf of the Central Government, I assure you all. I want to work with determination for the development of the Northeast, “he said.
