Centre ‘supported’ demolition of churches, Mizoram BJP VP resign

Aizawl: R Vanramchhuanga has resigned as the vice president of BJP’s Mizoram unit.BJP’s Mizoram unit vice-president R Vanramchhuanga resigned over attacks on churches in Manipur.
In his computer-typed resignation letter, Vanramchhuanga claimed that the Manipur and Central governments had ‘sponsored’ the demolition of churches in neighboring Manipur.

“I believe that the massive demolition of Christian churches in Manipur had the support of the state (Manipur) and central authorities,” Vanramchhuanga said in his resignation letter.
He added: “To protest this act of criminal injustice to Christians and the Christian religion, I hereby tender my resignation as State Vice President, BJP Mizoram Pradesh with immediate effect.”

Vanramchhuanga tendered his resignation to Mizoram BJP president Vanlalhmuaka.
He also claimed that 357 churches across Manipur were “burnt to ashes by Meitei militants” during communal clashes in the state since May 3.

In his resignation letter, the Mizoram BJP leader said, “Due to the recent outbreak of communal conflict in the state of Manipur, 357 (357) Christian churches, pastors’ quarters and office buildings belonging to various churches have been demolished.” Burned to ashes by the militants,” the Mizoram BJP leader said in his resignation letter.
Vanramchhuanga further criticized the central government for ‘failing’ to condemn the burning of churches in Manipur.

Mizoram BJP leader Vanramchhuanga said, “The central government has not uttered a word to condemn the burning of Christian churches.
