KOHIMA: The Center has allocated Rs 1,237.51 crore to Nagaland from 2019 through the Tribal Affairs and Jal Shakti ministries, Union Minister of State for the two departments Bishwewar Tudu said on Monday.
Tudu, who is here on his first two-day visit, asked the implementing agencies in Nagaland to ensure that benefits reach the grassroots so that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of upliftment of the tribal people can be achieved. .
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is concerned for the development of the tribal areas of the country including Nagaland as he has set up a separate Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
During the day, Tudu reviewed the implementation of various schemes and development works under the ministries of Jal Jeevan Mission, Education, Health and Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs.
He said that the government officials have apprised him about the difficulty in fully utilizing the projects as per the guidelines of the Union Ministries due to hilly areas and landlocked areas.
Todo said he has asked the officers to prepare proposals that can be taken up at the higher level. He also met state BJP workers in Dimapur.
