Imphal: The Supreme Court on Friday transferred the probe into the Manipur violence cases by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to Assam, and asked the Guwahati High Court chief justice to nominate judges to hear the case.
A bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said on Friday that judicial proceedings related to the appearance, remand, judicial custody and extension of the accused will be conducted online in a designated court in Guwahati.
However, according to reports, the CJI said that the accused would be given judicial custody in Manipur if and when granted.
