CBI arrested 5 including 2 of NHAI, ED for alleged bribery. The lawsuit alleges that government employees issued a bank guarantee in exchange for illegal relief for processing and clearance of bills. It was further alleged that the company had entered into an agreement to widen the road in Meghalaya in 2018, for which a discharge certificate was to be issued by NHAI on March 31, 2022 after completion of 4 years of mandatory maintenance.
It was also alleged that government employees and others supported the private company in processing and clearing the final bills and obtained a private company bank guarantee issued by NHAI as well as a discharge certificate issued by NHAI. What happened, for which bribe money was taken. Allegedly paid to government employees.

The CBI set a trap and caught the government employees soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh from an employee of the said private company who had given the bribe along with other employees. Employees of the private company were also arrested.
The raids were carried out at about 15 places including Guwahati, Bangalore, Gurgaon, Shillong and Patna, which resulted in the discovery of criminal material. About Rs 2.33 crore has been recovered from the premises of the executive director of the said private company.

All the arrested accused will be produced in the competent court of Guwahati.
