Sports Activities in Nagaland
Dimapur: The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has alleged that a group of politicians and extra-constitutional officials are controlling all sports activities in Nagaland.
“The recent tussle between a retired DGP and his colleagues in the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) has brought out this point starkly,” the RPP said on Tuesday.
The party said that the recent beating of famous footballer Bhaichung Bhutia in the All India Football Federation presidential election where the Nagaland Football Association voted against him is also a good example of the cartel putting politics over sports. .
The party said that if the RPP comes to power, it has promised to dismantle the cartel that has done nothing but pay lip service to sports in the state.
The party ensured the identification, pursuit and development of core competency areas in sports.
The RPP said that during its recent walkathon around Nagaland, it was discovered that Mon district has a lot of sports potential.
The party said it would adopt a sports policy in which sports administration would be handled by sportspersons and all sports associations would be streamlined under the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA).
He said his special emphasis would be on shooting, wrestling, boxing, cricket, other combat sports, football, badminton and archery.
At least any two of these subjects will be made part of the school curriculum as per the expertise of the districts.
The party said its sports policy would include the unveiling of Nagas at the Olympics, a special Vision 2032, and allocation of 3% to 5% of the state budget for sports.
It states that the Nagaland state team for any discipline in sports shall consist of at least 75% indigenous Nagas and any prospective school shall not be granted a permit/license to start a school unless That there is not enough playing field.
It said that national-level athletes would be awarded job security in the police or sports department.
Stating that the Task Force for Music and Arts (TFMA) Nagaland would be streamlined, the RPP said that all music and sports activities would be directly handled by the Directorate of Youth Resources and Sports.
The party added that a hall of fame would be established for sportspersons and their achievements would be made part of the school curriculum.
