Meghalaya Police remains steadfast in its commitment to tackle the scourge of drug abuse, a major concern affecting our youth.
Earlier in June, Meghalaya police arrested two alleged drug peddlers near a fuel station in the state’s Nongsing village and recovered 2.738 kg of heroin worth Rs 10 crore.
The drug dealers have been identified as M Tuanbiaklian Guite (32) and Imliakum Longkumer, (40).
According to a police statement, the two were traveling in a Tata Winger bearing reg number NL 07T 0815 and carrying a consignment of illegal contraband.
However, the ANTF team and Lad Rymbai PS personnel set up a roadblock near BMS fuel station Nongsing, and the vehicle was impounded around 6:15 pm.
During the search of the vehicle in the presence of independent witnesses, 200 cases of soap containing yellow-orange powder were found in various hidden compartments of the vehicle.
A preliminary test of the powder gave a positive result for heroin and the total weight was found to be 2.738 kg.
