Brutal torture on Naga by 3rd Assam Rifles,NSCN(IM) condemned

Imphal: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) on Tuesday expressed utter shock and vehemently condemned the third-degree punishment being handed out to DK. Korungthang Maring at the hands of paramilitary personnel of 3rd Assam Rifles on January 30.

In a press release, the NSCN-IM alleged, “What really caught the attention of all who value human rights is the appalling behavior of 3rd Assam Rifles post in Tengnoupal, Manipur, targeting an innocent person and looting Rs.4 lakh in cash and Maruti Gypsy after giving 3rd degree torture to DK. Korungthang”.

The press statement further stated that this is nothing less than committing dacoity.

The NSCN-IM said that those Assam Rifles personnel involved in the crime deserve to be meted befitting punishment after getting them arrested and tried under IPC applicable to torture and dacoity.

The NSCN-IM also said it condemned such an act of cruelty that is inhuman and degrading.
