Britain's Queen Elizabeth II has died at Balmoral at the age of 96.

Britain’s longest-reigning Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday afternoon in Balmoral, Scotland.

He was 96 years old when he breathed his last.

Queen Elizabeth has been suffering from health problems since October last year, which has left her unable to walk or stand.

In keeping with centuries of tradition and protocol, Charles – Queen Elizabeth’s eldest son – succeeded as King of Great Britain shortly after the Queen’s death.
“The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of great sadness for me and all members of my family,” King Charles said in a statement.
“Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be remembered as a towering figure of our time. She provided inspirational leadership to her nation and people. She demonstrated dignity and decency in public life. Her death Saddened. My thoughts are with his family and the people of the UK at this sad time,” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.

Modi added: “I had memorable meetings with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during my visits to the UK in 2015 and 2018. I will never forget her warmth and kindness. During one meeting she showed me that handkerchief. which Mahatma Gandhi gifted him on his wedding. I will always cherish the gesture.”

“Condolences to the people of Great Britain and the royal family on the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She had a long and glorious reign, serving her country with great determination and dignity,” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said.
