Guwahati: Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist boxer Lovlina Borgohain on Monday alleged that she was being mentally harassed while training for the Commonwealth Games.
Lovlina will represent India at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
In a tweet on Monday, Makar said his preparations for the Commonwealth Games had been hampered as his coaches faced “constant harassment” from the authorities.
Borgohain alleged that one of his coaches has been banned from the Commonwealth Games premises while another has been sent home.
She says two of her coaches who helped her win an Olympic medal were not being allowed to participate in CWG 2022 training.
Sandhya said one of her coaches, Sandhya Gurung, was not allowed to enter Commonwealth Village, Birmingham, while her other coach was sent back to India due to which she could not focus on her training.
Lulina alleged that she endured similar treatment before the world championships in Istanbul and fears the same will happen at the upcoming Birmingham Games.
The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) said the approval process is being managed by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and hoped that the issue would be resolved soon.
“IOA and BFI are continuously working to get Sandhya’s approval. It is in IOA’s hands but it will come today or tomorrow.
