Guwahati: A farmer in Gosai Gaon faced a devastating loss when miscreants vandalized his bottle gourd plantation. Dulal Sainyasi, who cultivated lentils on one bigha of land, discovered his plants cut down just as he was preparing to harvest them.
The incident took place early morning on October 28. As news spread, local residents and traders were left in disbelief, with many expressing their grief over the senseless act. “I was ready to sell my bottle gourd plantation at Rs 30 each, and buyers were already lined up to purchase directly from the field,” Sainyasi said.
Sainyasi, who has served as a teacher for three decades without pay at a venture school, had only recently embarked on his farming journey. The destruction of his bottle gourd has not only robbed him of his livelihood but has also left him and the local traders heartbroken.
Upon being notified, officers from the Mangaldai Sadar police station arrived at the scene to launch an investigation. Sainyasi is calling for a thorough inquiry into the matter to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
