BOKO: Tension flared in Bhalukumari village of Boko district along the Assam-Meghalaya border when some local people and Meghalaya leaders jointly organized a meeting at a private school on Thursday.
According to Sanjit Rabha, village head of Bhalukmari village, “Some local people from our village and some leaders from Meghalaya organized a meeting today in the premises of a private school. When we came to know about the meeting, I asked the village Along with the President requested him not to hold any such meeting related to Meghalaya in the territory of Assam.
“After that, some locals from our village started arguing with us and claimed that the land belonged to the neighboring state of Meghalaya. They even tried to attack us. So we immediately left the area and took shelter in a safe place,” added village head Sanjit Rabha.
Village president Ruhini Kumar Rabha alleged that some residents of Bhalukumari village were planning to set up a school in the village, which would be run by the Meghalaya government.
Soon after the incident, a police team led by Boko PS OC Phanindra Chandra Nath and Boko Revenue Circle Officer Dibash Bordoloi reached the spot to take stock of the matter.
A heated argument broke out between the two groups due to a misunderstanding. Boko Revenue Circle Officer Dibash Bordoloi said the situation is now under control.
