Guwahati: Opposing the Election Commission of India’s recent draft constituencies, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) supremo Badruddin Ajmal criticized the BJP government for allegedly playing politics of division and government.
Speaking to the media, AIUDF supremo Badruddin Ajmal said, “The BJP has been playing the policy of divide and rule since the day it came to power. RSS and BJP were during the British rule. Bani and now they are following the path of the British.”
In early June, five All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLAs and senior party members gathered at Dhubri Circuit House to discuss the contentious issue of delimitation of constituencies in Assam.
Expressing their displeasure, AIUDF leaders accused the BJP-led government of manipulating the boundaries to serve their interests and create division among communities.
MLAs from Dhubri district, who are part of the sub-committee formed by the AIUDF, also presented the constituency map based on recent delimitations.
Aminul Islam, speaking on behalf of the sub-committee, announced that they would submit a report to the AIUDF Central Committee and file objections with the Delimitation Commission.
He criticized the random and biased manner in which delimitation was done, ignoring important factors like population density, geographical features, administrative convenience and historical context of the constituencies.
