BJP MLAs Camping In Delhi, seeks removal of CM N Biren Singh

Manipur: In a major development, several BJP MLAs from Manipur are reportedly camping in the national capital and are trying to oust N Biren Singh as the state’s chief minister.

According to reports, at least 10-12 MLAs are currently in New Delhi and are seeking intervention from the central leadership in this matter.
One of the many reasons for their grievance is the suspension of the 2008 SoO agreement by the Manipur state government in March 2023.

Notably, most of the MLAs belong to the Kuki community of Manipur. The agreement was on suspension of operations against Kuki militants and locals fear that the suspension and subsequent crackdown is affecting their daily lives.
Baghi said of the rebel MLA, “The BJP in Manipur and the Northeast has gained strength due to the national leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, but of late the state BJP and the state Govt. We are facing some problems due to leadership. Leadership in Manipur is not democratic, more like a monarchy and we want to solve these problems as 2024 approaches.
Recently, BJP MLA from Langthabal Assembly Constituency Karam Shyam has resigned from the post of Chairman of Tourism Corporation of Manipur.

He submitted his resignation to CM Biren Singh alleging that he had not been given any responsibilities as the Chairman of Tourism Corporation of Manipur.

“I am resigning from the post of Chairman of Tourism Corporation of Manipur Limited as I have not been entrusted with any responsibility as Chairman,” the resignation letter read.
Earlier this month, BJP MLA Thokchom Radheshyam Singh resigned as adviser to the Manipur chief minister.

In his resignation letter, Radheshyam also complained of “not being given any responsibility”.
