BJP-led Tripura cabinet to be expand after Diwali festivity
Agartala: The Tripura cabinet led by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha may induct new members soon after Diwali, a top source in the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party told the media.
Sources added that three vacant berths in the state council of ministers would be filled at the time of expansion.
After the 2023 assembly elections, the second cabinet was formed under the leadership of Dr. Manik Saha.
At that time, several senior BJP leaders such as Bhagaban Das and the Rampada Jamatia who had been part of the Biplab Kumar Deb cabinet were removed.
New faces like Sudhangshu Das and Bikash Dibarma filled the gap. IPFT MLA Shukla Charan Noatia, his party’s sole representative in the state assembly, also got a berth in the cabinet.
Out of total 12 posts, 9 posts were filled while 3 posts remained vacant.
Speculation was rife after Tipra Motha joined the negotiating table with the Indian government.
The ruling party predicted that after some time the main opposition party would be willing to join the government if their demands were heeded.
However, it is not clear whether the BJP and Tipra Motha have finally signed a power-sharing agreement.
TIPRA’s founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman maintained a kind of bitter-sweet relationship with the BJP.
His party has targeted the government on several issues while avoiding troubling the saffron camp on some critical occasions.
BJP sources, however, have said that the BJP has improved its strength in the tribal areas and the party can fight any kind of electoral battle in the TTAADC areas.
