Guwahati: The Assam government has imposed a six-month ban on strikes by employees in the oil and gas sector, effective from July 25.
This decision has been taken under Section 3 of the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA), according to an official notification issued on Thursday.
The ban applies to all officers, workmen, contract laborers, tanker drivers, and khalasis involved in the oil and gas sector.
The prohibition is enforced under the Essential Services Maintenance (Assam) Act, 1980, as stated in the notification released by the Assam political department.
