Mukroh Firing Incident
Shillong: BJP national secretary Rituraj Sinha on Monday demanded the resignation of state home minister Lahkmen Rymbui, saying the latter was “unable to discharge his responsibilities”.
Sinha also appealed to Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to provide a government job to at least one person from the families of those who lost their loved ones in the November 22 dastardly firing.
Sinha along with other party leaders visited Mukroh on Sunday evening and interacted with the families.
BJP went to the village and gave financial assistance to every family and shared their sorrow.
Most other political parties have not even taken the pain to travel all the way and meet the people who have suffered,” Sinha said.
He added that if the Assam State Police acted out of line, the party would appeal to the state Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. A delegation led by BJP state president Ernest Maury will meet Srima on November 30 and present their case.
Sinha added that the state home minister belongs to Jaintia Hills region. “The way the police is managed in Meghalaya, with everything centered around Shillong and no support for the people in the interior, I think it’s time for the Home Minister to take some responsibility. “He should resign as he has failed to fulfill his responsibilities,” Sinha demanded.
Appealing to people to avoid violence, Sinha said that violence is not the solution to any problem.
