Itanagar: The sighting of about 105 different bird species in just three days in Lingala sub-division of Towang district has created quite a stir in the bird world and highlighted the rich biodiversity of the region.

The Lungla subdivision already has the privilege of being a red panda and snow leopard, a common sight among herdsmen.

A group of Arunachal birds including Koj Mama, Punyo Chada, Hibu Talu, Bamin Baro, Bamin Chada, Millo Tako and Dr. Joram Khopey during their three-day bird tour spotted 105 birds in Zemithang, Old Lumla and Namstering areas. Seen In a variety of mammals, including capped langurs, barking deer, yellow-necked martin and Malay giant squirrels.

Of the 105 birds, Tutor’s Ultra Marine Fly Catcher, Redhead Bull Finch, Mrs. Golds Sunbird, Blitz Swift, Bhutan Laughing Thrush, Bay Area, Rufus Breasted Accenter, Crested Bunting, Wood near Darjeeling, Crested Bunting, see Co Happy Human habitation.

During the three-day tour, the birds also spotted a rare snake and a member of the wine snake family. Snake image and video have been sent to experts for verification as the birds are anxiously awaiting the report.

Meanwhile, the Women’s Welfare Association, Lingala, in association with Arunachal Pradesh Birding Club (APBC) and Nguno Ziro, organized a home stay, photography and bird workshop at Gakyid Zomkhall Hall on Wednesday where RWD Adviser to the Minister and local legislator Jambey Tashi was the chief guest. .

Addressing the event, Tashi said his circle is rich in biodiversity and has vast potential for tourism that remains to be exploited. He urged the youth, especially the unemployed, to use the resources and become self-reliant instead of relying more on less government jobs.

Explaining the importance of the workshop, he asked the participants to apply what they learn and pass on the message to others who could not join the program.

The legislator also appealed to the villagers to play an active role in protecting the rich flora and fauna of the region.

Concerned about the frequent forest fires in the area, he asked the village heads to persuade the villagers to take the initiative to stop it as soon as possible for a greener environment and deforestation.

Langla Additional Deputy Commissioner Tashi Dhondap said Lingala has 18 registered homestays and a successful interface between bird care, homestay and photography will go a long way in harnessing the region’s tourism potential. Someone’s livelihood will increase.

Earlier, in a PowerPoint presentation, APBC President Koj Mama showed pictures of birds seen during his three-day bird tour and detailed the vast potential of tourism in the Lingala area and ways to take advantage of it.
He credited Ergun Surrender Abhiyan, an initiative of the Arunachal Pradesh government, for stopping wildlife hunting for unprecedented bird watching over the past year.

Thupten Gambo, a member of Lingala District Council, also spoke on the importance of the workshop. Punyo Chada and Hibu Tattoo of Ngunu Zero conducted a technical session at Homestay, while Dr. Joram Khope discussed the basics of photography.
