Fight for the rights of Nagas

Dimapur: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday assured that the JDU will fight for the rights of the Naga people.

Asserting that the party will always stand for a solution to the Naga issue, Kumar expressed surprise that the Center had so far signed it in 2015 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Why has the framework agreement not been implemented
“I don’t know why the Center is not doing this,” the JDU leader said. He stressed that the Government of India should find a solution to the Naga problem.

Kumar was here to attend the All Nagaland Bihari Conference organized to commemorate the 120th birth anniversary of Lok Naik Jay Prakash Narayan, also known as JP, at the Dimapur District Sports Complex Stadium.
On arrival at the stadium, the Bihar Chief Minister paid tributes to Jaiprakash Narayan on his 120th birth anniversary.
He said that he is happy to be in Nagaland on Lok Naik’s birthday.

Highlighting Jayaprakash Narayan’s contribution to India’s freedom movement and development, Kumar said that JP came to Nagaland in 1964 and stayed in the state till 1967. Meanwhile, he said that the well-known socialist traveled widely to different villages across the state. A member of the peace mission to get the pulse of the Naga people on their freedom movement.
Kumar said that it was on his appeal that the ceasefire was implemented in Nagaland.

“He came as a member of the peacekeeping mission and set up the Nagaland Peace Centre,” he added.

Kumar said it is a matter of pride that the people of Nagaland remember and respect JP.
The Chief Minister of Bihar assured all possible support for the development of the state.

Explaining how his government has developed Bihar, Kumar said that every house has been connected with electricity and water supply while hospitals, roads and educational institutions have witnessed rapid transformation.

He urged the youth of Nagaland to visit Bihar to feel the development in the state.

Kumar was accompanied by JDU national president Rajeev Ranjan Singh, party MPs and ministers from Bihar.
