New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, leading the 150-day Bharat Jodu Yatra, said on Saturday that he believes in ‘tapasya’ and wants an element of suffering while interacting with people.
“Bharat Jodu Yatra , Not only him, but his entire family believes in the concept of ‘tapasya’,” Rahul Gandhi told reporters in the town of Turuvekere on the sidelines of the march.
He was answering questions about how the rally has changed him as a person.
“With this padayatra, interacting with people, I wanted an element of discomfort for myself. I didn’t want the march to be easy. I wanted to do something that would make me suffer.
“When I am talking to my people, I can share my sufferings.
“So, I think it’s a very powerful experience. When you’re walking down the street and talking to your people, after suffering, communication.

“Our people have great wisdom but the kind of politics we are playing wastes it.
They have a lot to say but they are not able to because of the political system. I also got a lot of support. By that, I don’t mean the numbers but the people I interact with,” he added.
