AGARTALA: After initiating an indefinite hunger strike demanding a constitutional solution, former chairman of TIPRA party and Tripura royal scion, Pradyot Debbarma, abruptly departed for Delhi upon receiving a call from the central government while addressing the crowd in Hatai Kotor (formerly known as Baramura Hills) in Tripura.
During his speech, leader of the opposition and MLA of TIPRA, Animesh Debbarma, passed a phone call to Pradyot on stage.
Following the conversation, Pradyot announced, “I need to go to Delhi. Just received a call. We shouldn’t celebrate now. The central government asked me to come to Delhi immediately. Should I go? I must. But there will be no celebration. We shouldn’t repeat past mistakes. Take this seriously. I will go to Delhi, speak to them, but won’t compromise. Youth TIPRA Federation, maintain this stage. If there’s good news, I’ll address you from here.”
He emphasized his resolve to travel to Delhi on an empty stomach and declared that he would not consume food until receiving positive news.
“I seek the blessings of my indigenous people. I assure a constitutional solution. I appreciate the call from Delhi and thank them for hearing our indigenous people’s voice. I won’t return empty-handed,” Pradyot affirmed.
