Dibrugarh: In a heartfelt tribute to martyred soldier Balmukund, a road near Amolapatty area in Assam’s Dibrugarh was dedicated in his name on Monday, officially called Balmukand Road.
Several dignitaries including CRPF DIG Rajiv Ranjan, MLA Prashant Phukan, 171 CRPF Battalion CO Samir Srivastava, Shaheed Balmukand’s wife Usha Devi, and Dibrugarh Municipal Board Chairman Saikat Patra. attended the event.
On December 1998, Balamkund bravely laid down his life while fighting the terrorists. He served in the 63rd Battalion of the CRPF.
Expressing her gratitude, Usha Devi remarked, “I am filled with joy to know that this road has been dedicated in the memory of my husband. He made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and we are proud of him.” I am very proud.”
Appreciating the initiative, Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan said, “Naming the road after those who laid down their lives for our country is a commendable move. This road will serve as an inspiration to others, especially the youth, encouraging them to serve their country.”
Fukkin further honored the family of Shaheed Balamkund with thoughtful gifts.
Balamkund, a native of Dibrugarh, will always be remembered for his bravery in the fight against terrorism.
