At Songnung, Imphal west temporary BSF outpost to be set up

Imphal west: Manipur Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo on Sunday visited K Songnung, Kangchup Hills Phayeng, Imphal West to protect villagers from attacks by suspected Kuki militants.
Speaking to the media, Minister Dingo said he came to the area to confirm the location and dominate the area against suspected Kuki militants.
He said that a temporary BSF outpost would be set up while state forces would be deployed in K Songnung village to protect the villagers of Phayeng and nearby.

He said that the area is a good place to set up a checkpoint to keep a tight vigil against any unwanted attacks.
He said that for other areas of the Kangchap range, personnel of the 7th Manipur Rifles are stationed at Singda. He added that a company of BSF has been deployed in Kangchup Chiru.
He said that the deployment of BSF and state forces in such insecure areas will provide security to the villagers and maintain peace.
Later, the minister also visited Singda and its surroundings on the same day. Officer-in-charge of Lamshang Police Station, Kangpokpi Police Station and BSF personnel also participated in the visit.
