At Singchung Bugun community celebrate Pham Kho Sowai festival

Itanagar: The joyous and most colorful Pham Kho Sowai festival of the Bugun community of Arunachal Pradesh began on September 10 at Singchung under West Kameng district.
The local MLA of Thrizono-Boragaon Assembly Constituency Kumsi Sidisow attended the function as the chief guest and distributed the prizes of the cultural and sports competition. Various traditional cultural programs were presented in the fair which were celebrated with great enthusiasm and pomp.
Additionally, the meritorious students of Bugun Society were recognized and felicitated during the event.

Pham-Kho Sowai is a popular harvest festival (shifting farming) of the Bugun people, now celebrated on a fixed date of 10 September every year since 2013.
The MLA urged the youth to respect their tradition and culture as it is their own identity. “Our children should know how to speak the local mother tongue and they should never fall into drug addiction. I promote sports activities in my constituency as it will divert the minds of the youth who sometimes indulge in drugs or are influenced by alcohol.”
