At Kangpokpi the biggest festival of the Thadous begins

Imphal: The fifth state-level Han Cultural Festival 2023, one of the biggest festivals of the Thadou community, one of the indigenous tribes of Manipur, was inaugurated by state Chief Minister N Biren Singh as the chief guest at Thomas Ground on Tuesday. as Kangpokpi District of Manipur.

The festival under the theme ‘Drug Free Society’ concluded on Wednesday.
An important feature of this festival is that young children pray to their grandparents for a bright and peaceful life in the future.
N Biren Singh also released a souvenir in connection with the festival and appealed to all the communities of the state to be united and urged all to save and conserve forests, prevent illegal immigration and poppy cultivation.

In her presidential speech, Minister Nemcha Kipgen said that during the festival that marks the beginning of the year, the community prays for a fruitful year ahead.

She wished that the festival would play an important role in making the state a drug-free society and bring more peace and unity to the communities of the state.
The Minister further highlighted that the theme of the festival is “Drug Free Society” and to make our society drug free it is important to start with children.

On their arrival, the Chief Minister of Manipur and other dignitaries were accorded a warm traditional welcome by the people of Kangpokpi.

Traditional songs and dances mark the opening session of the festival.
The inaugural session was also attended by Minister Konthujam Govindas, Minister Letpao Haokip, and MLA Irengbam Nalini, MLA Janghemlung Panmei, MLA Kimneo Haokip Hansing, DGP P Doungel, village heads, and youth leaders.
