
At Delhi hotel Assam woman assaulted by drunken youth
New Delhi: In a disturbing incident that highlights the continuing concerns about women’s safety in public spaces, a woman from Assam was allegedly assaulted by a drunk youth at a hotel in Delhi’s New Friends Colony area.
According to reports, the incident took place at Karan Palace Guest House around 10 pm. On August 26
The accused, identified as Navin Kumar Singh, allegedly reached the door of the victim’s room in a drunken state and asked the victim to open the door immediately.
However, the woman refused the intruder’s demands and did not open the door after which Singh forced his way into her room. He allegedly physically assaulted the woman.
After the harrowing ordeal, the victim immediately lodged a complaint against the alleged assailant Singh at the local police station, on which the police took immediate action and eventually the accused was taken into custody.
“On the night of August 26 around 9:45-10 pm when I was getting ready for bed, I heard someone knocking loudly on the door of my room. I was immediately asked to open the door which scared me a bit.
As I refused to open the gate, the accused broke it and entered inside.
Later he abused and beat me. Miraculously, I managed to break free and informed her father, who owned the hotel where I lived. He advised me to immediately report the incident to the police,” the victim said while talking to the media.
She further said that on receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took him for medical examination.
