Hours after Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi to discuss the current situation in the state, miscreants set fire to a shop in Chingmairong at midnight on June 25.
Police and fire tenders reached the spot and brought the fire under control by 2 am.
Meanwhile, there is no report of any casualty or crowd increase. The security forces deployed in the state have been able to bring the law and order situation under control.
Notably, no casualties have been reported since June 13, indicating significant progress in restoring peace.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh briefed the Union Home Minister on the ground reality on June 25 and highlighted the joint efforts of the state and central governments in effectively curbing the violence during the past week.
The Chief Minister said that the Union Home Minister has assured that the Central Government will take all possible steps to maintain peace in Manipur. Furthermore, Amit Shah has sought cooperation from all stakeholders in Manipur to ensure that peace prevails in the state.
