At Cheirao Ching No entry of central forces, Meira Paibi protested

Imphal: In a bid to restore peace in the region, locals of Thangmeiband, under the auspices of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai Meira Paibi, staged a protest at Sinam Leikai on Wednesday, and announced a ban on the entry of central forces into Cheirao Ching in Imphal.
The protestors expressed their concerns over the current situation and announced a ban on the entry of central forces without the prior permission of the concerned police station officer-in-charge and local authorities in Cheirao Ching.
Speaking to the media at the protest site, Meira Paibi adviser Khangembam Bilasini alleged that a convoy of RAF personnel was seen climbing Cheirao Ching on Tuesday afternoon, allegedly carrying food items including liquor.
She said that the RAF personnel withdrew only after the intervention of the OC of the concerned police station and the local authorities.
Blasini questioned the purpose of the RAF personnel’s presence, questioning whether they had been deployed to hold a picnic at Cheirao Ching.
Expressing further displeasure at the central government’s response to the unrest in the region, the adviser highlighted the lack of action against illegal immigrants who are demanding a homeland in Manipur, an integral part of India.
She criticized the Centre’s silence despite the loss of lives and displacement of many families due to the ongoing unrest.
According to her, this silence indicates the central government’s support for illegal immigrants.
In view of the current situation, the protestors urged all local and ethnic groups of Manipur to unite and fight against external aggression caused by illegal immigrants.

She demanded the return of Assam Rifles, cancellation of the SoO agreement, elimination of drug terrorists and restoration of peace in the region.
