Dibrugarh: The wife of fundamentalist preacher Amritpal Singh, lodged in Assam’s Dibrugarh jail, on Thursday met the pro-Khalistan accused, officials said.
A senior official said that along with them, the families of other ‘Wars Punjab De’ (WPD) workers also met the inmates at the Dibrugarh Central Jail.
He further said that Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh’s wife Kirandeep Kaur has come to Dibrugarh today to meet her husband in jail.
Neeru Kalsi, wife of another accused Daljit Singh Kalsi, and his son Simarjeet Kalsi also reached the Dibrugarh Central Jail during the day, the official said.
“They entered the jail complex around 1 pm and left the premises at 3.25 pm. They came by a flight and will stay in Dibrugarh today.
Also on April 27, 10 family members of arrested WPD activists, including its leader Amritpal Singh, went to Dibrugarh Central Jail to meet them.
Amritpal Singh was lodged in Dibrugarh Central Jail after his arrest in the northern state on April 23 and was taken on a special flight from Punjab. Along with this, 10 of his pro-Khalistan group are currently lodged in this jail in Assam.
The nine others are – Daljit Singh Kalsi, Papalpreet Singh, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Varinder Singh Johal, Gurmeet Singh Bulkanwala, Harjit Singh, Bhagwant Singh, Basant Singh and Gurinderpal Singh Aujla.
Security has been beefed up in and around the jail premises since March 19, when four Waris Punjab D (WPD) members were brought here in the first batch.
