At 10,000 ft above sea level Arunachal to host mega marathon

Tawang: Arunachal Pradesh is gearing up to organize a high-altitude marathon on October 1 at Tawang at a remarkable altitude of 10,000 feet above sea level.

According to reports, the Indian Army and the Arunachal Pradesh government are working together to stage the event, which will be the first of its kind in India.
The main objective of Tawang Marathon is to promote adventure sports and create a marathon route that will improve tourism in the state. A large number of marathon runners from across the country are expected to participate in this event.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his enthusiasm for this extraordinary event, highlighting Tawang’s stunning natural beauty, rugged mountains and pristine valleys.
He is urging others to get involved and not miss the opportunity to be a part of something special. Arunachal Pradesh, often known as the land of sunrise mountains, welcomes visitors from all over the world and needs more attention from the global tourist community.
The marathon was formally announced in June, and CM Khandu had already enrolled as the first participant. He recently reviewed marathon preparations in Tawang with local MLA Tsering Tashi, Deputy Commissioner Kangki Darrang, Zila Parishad Chairperson Leki Gombu, and 190 Mountain Brigade Commander Brig V S Rajput.
The Tawang Marathon will consist of a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10 km event, and a 5 km run. Notably, the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, and major central armed police forces such as ITBP and SSB will all be present.
This historical race event held in such a unique environment is the first in the country’s history. This is a great project to promote adventure sports and boost the tourism industry. Arunachal Pradesh eagerly awaits Tawang Marathon athletes from all over India.
