Karimganj/Hailakandi (Assam): Banned Yaba pills worth around Rs 40 crore have been seized from a car in Assam’s Karimganj district and one person has been arrested, a police official said on Tuesday.
Additional Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das said that seven lakh yaba pills weighing about 88 kg were recovered from a car in Bagarul area, about 22 km from Karimganj city, late on Monday night.
“The recovery was made during routine night patrolling in the area. The estimated value of the Yaba bullets is Rs 40 crore.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested. There were other people in the car, but they managed to escape during the search operation, the official said.
Das added that investigation of the case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act is underway.
In December last year, the police seized Yaba pills worth Rs 150 crore from Cachar district.
