GUWAHATI: Assam Lok Sabha Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi has stressed that visa stamping facility from the Center and a medical test center in Guwahati will benefit people from the Northeast who intend to travel abroad.
He said that he has written a letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and said that he will raise the matter in Parliament.
“Based on feedback from my constituents, especially young students from Assam who wish to travel abroad for higher education, I have informed the Hon’ble Minister about the need for visa stamping facility and medical testing centers in Guwahati. Wrote to @DrSJaishankar.” The MP from Nagaon said on Twitter on Thursday.
He said that such facilities in Guwahati would benefit hundreds of commuters from across the North East, who currently have to travel to cities outside the region for these tasks.
“Intends to closely follow this request in parliament sessions,” said Bordoloi.
In his letter to Jaishankar, he pointed out that when many people from the Northeast travel to different countries, they face many difficulties in getting their visas stamped and undergoing medical tests as these services are not available in the region. are not available.
“Since Guwahati is the capital of Assam and also a focal point for the Northeast region, setting up facilities here will facilitate the visa process for the region’s over 45 million population,” Bordoloi wrote.
He urged the ministry to facilitate communication with countries like UK, USA, Germany, Australia and Singapore for setting up medical testing facility and visa stamping facility in Guwahati.
