Silchar: Ranachandi Temple and Park, a centuries-old heritage site in Assam’s Dima Hasao district, has been given a royal makeover and is slated to be inaugurated on January 13.
Located in Maibang, about 50 km from Haflong (headquarters of Dima Hasao district), the temple and park are decorated with magnificent lights and other decorations that reflect the rich history, tradition and culture of Dimasas.

The opening ceremony on January 13 will feature a spectacular performance of the traditional Dimasa Baidima dance by 2,000 female artists, accompanied by 500 youths playing traditional drums and flutes.
The programme, which will be extended till January 14, will also include the presentation of a documentary film on Dimasas, their kingdom and history, and an interactive session on the tradition, culture and current status of Dimasa.
NCHAC Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa, President of Dimasa Sahitya Sabhas Ramesh Thaosen, Assistant Professor of Jawaharlal Nehru University Dr. Phirmi Bodo, Village Buras (Village Headmen), Mouzadars (Revenue Collectors) and Dimasa K. The representatives will be from Barak Valley, Brahmaputra Valley and Nagaland Everyone is present.
In the lead up to the grand event, NCHAC Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa and other officials are making regular visits to the Ranachandi Temple and Park to ensure all arrangements are in place. The heritage site is being finalized to set the mood and make the event a success.
