Guwahati: In an early morning operation by security forces against the banned militant outfit United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent (ULFA-I) in Tinsukia of Upper Assam, one person was reportedly injured in an encounter between the forces and suspected militants. .
The injured person has been identified as Amit Mukhiya.
According to reports, the injured person has been admitted to the hospital but it is not yet clear whether he was a militant or a civilian.
An official statement from the security forces and the police is still awaited.
According to reports, an encounter took place between suspected ULFA-I activists and security forces in Tinsukia’s Pangiri area.
The administration has closed the Pangiri-Digboi road to bring the situation under control.
The injured person is a resident of Pingri and no official statement has been released regarding the incident.
According to sources, the police and security forces received information about a suspected group of militants sheltering in the area. Sources said that the militants belonged to ULFA-I.
However, the injured youth has been described as a civilian.
It should be noted that during the entry of this report, the injured citizen was not allowed to talk to the media. Sources added that the police are currently clearing some legal “formalities” regarding the incident.
