Assam: Woman abducts minor Karimganj young lady ‘to sell’; captured in Guwahati
The lady was created under the watchful eye of a court on Friday and shipped off legal care for 14 days.
SILCHAR: A 35-year-elderly person was captured at the Guwahati rail route station on May 5 (Thursday) for supposedly hijacking a minor young lady of southern Assam’s Karimganj area and attempting to sell her for prostitution.
The lady was delivered under the steady gaze of a court on Friday and shipped off legal authority for 14 days. The minor young lady was additionally safeguarded from the rail line station, police said on Saturday.
Sources in police said the minor young lady’s dad, who hails from a town under Ratabari Assembly electorate, had informed the nearby police on May 4 that his 16-year-old little girl had disappeared from their home on that day, it was sent off to follow which an examination.
Police got data that the young lady was seen going in Kanchenjunga Express made a beeline for Guwahati with a lady, after which the rail route police at the Guwahati rail line station was reached and informed about the matter.
The rail line police then, at that point, led a hunt procedure on the train after it arrived at Guwahati, saved the minor young lady and captured the lady, distinguished as one Jolly Paul, sources in the police said.
Another source said Jolly hijacked the young lady from her home on May 4 after her dad, who is an everyday worker, went to work. Being a minor, the young lady was effortlessly persuaded by the lady to go with her after she guaranteed her a worthwhile work.
The lady took her to Badarpur railroad station and boarded the Kanchenjunga Express for Guwahati. Meanwhile, police got the data about the matter and captured the lady and recuperated the minor young lady from the train in Guwahati, the source said.
Additional superintendent of police (headquarter), Karimganj, Partha Pratim Das told EastMojo on Saturday that a case (188/2022) under Sections 363 (kidnapping) and 372 (selling minor for purposes of prostitution) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 5 (procuring, inducing or taking a person for the sake of prostitution) of The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 was registered.
On Friday, the woman was produced before a court in Karimganj and sent to judicial custody for 14 days. The minor girl has been handed over to her family, the additional SP said.
