Assam vigilance team lays trap, nabs food safety officer in bribery case
Guwahati: A team from the Assam Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption caught a food safety officer taking a bribe who set a trap in the office of the director of health services in Nagun on Friday.
Birinchi Kumar Karjee, nominated by the Food Safety Officers of Nagaon, Hojai, Morigaon, Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts, has issued an FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) license. He demanded a bribe of Rs. Complainant

In this regard, a case (No. 10/2022) has been registered against Karjee in the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) police station under the Anti-Corruption Act 1988 (as amended in 2018).
Shortly after his arrest, searches were conducted at Kamakhya Lodge, Nagun (where he had rented a room) and his house in Juripar, Guwahati.
“During the search, Rs 9,66,500 and criminal documents were recovered. The case is under investigation,” he said.
