ULFA-I planning major attacks, outfit carrying out recruitment drive in Delhi too: MHA
Assam’s banned rebelion group – ULFA-I – appears to be on the move again after a long hiatus.
According to the Interior Ministry (MHA) note, ULFA-I is planning major attacks on security personnel and civilians.
ULFA-I has also stepped up its kidnapping activities in Assam and neighboring Arunachal Pradesh.
Reports from the MHA note state that “the ULFA is planning major attacks on security forces and civilians in addition to intensifying its abductions.”
In addition, ULFA-I has stepped up its recruitment drive by recruiting youth from Assam and other parts of the country.
According to intelligence reports, ULFA-I has also launched its recruitment drive in Delhi and the NCR region, targeting youth from Assam in particular.
Newly recruited ULFA-I cadres are being sent to the organization’s camp in Myanmar for training.
The MHA, meanwhile, has directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to investigate the ULFA-I recruitment drive and planned attacks.
