Training of police commandos by Army
Guwahati: The training program of Assam Police Commandos by the Army officially started on Friday (December 2).
The training program began on Friday at Narengi military cantonment in Guwahati, Assam.
Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta and Indian Army 4 Corps Commander DS Rana participated in the launch of the training programme.
The Army will train at least 3,000 personnel from five newly formed commando battalions of the Assam Police.
Assam Police commandos will be trained in counter-insurgency operations over the next 41 weeks.
The Assam government has taken steps to train the state’s police commandos through the army to strengthen security mechanisms.
The Indian Army will train these commandos of Assam Police at seven different locations.
